After a slow and steady start in the summer, I knew I needed to step up my game if I was ever going to reach 1,000 cats. Well, September delivered in a big way. We went from a modest tally of 4 straight up to 25, thanks to a combination of tiny paws at home and a strategic trip to the capital.
Sparkle’s Kittens Have Arrived!
Remember that litter brewing in August? They finally made their official debut on the tracker! Sparkles had four adorable kittens, including the very sweet Pandy who we decided to keep. Nothing boosts your numbers quite like a pile of fluffy kittens in your own house.
Taking the Mission on the Road: London Cat Cafes
I needed to go to London for work, so, to really get the numbers moving, I realized I needed to go where the cats are literally employed to hang out with you. So, the mission became a double-feature cat café tour.
Java Whiskers Marylebone Kitten Lounge
Java Whiskers have 2 locations and each one cat a cat lounge and a kitten lounge. I chose the kitten lounge because it sounded adorable. The kittens were a bit fast to get many good pictures of but I did manage to pet a few. The cafe itself is expensive but really lovely. No young children are allowed so I spent some good quality time relaxing with the cats. The cats are all rescue cats looking for forever homes which means that, should I return, they will likely have new cats!
Whiskers & Cream has more of cafe vibe and I found my time there really relaxing. The entry fee included a drink and I spent an amazing 90 minutes there sitting with a cat in the window and, of course, petting as many cats as I could. Probably the most relaxing cat cafe I’ve been to and the resident cats are adorable.
If you are on a quest to pet as many cats as humanly possible, I cannot recommend a cat cafe enough. It’s like finding a cheat code for the mission. Between the residents of both cafes and the kittens at home, I managed to greet 21 new feline friends in a single month.
